The legendary Birkebeinerrennet

The Birkebeinerrennet is a classic-style 53 km mountain race from Rena to Lillehammer, known for its long history and strong Birkebeiner tradition. The race brings together recreational skiers and experienced athletes for a unique winter mountain experience.

On Saturday 14 March 2026, the Birkebeinerrennet will be held for the 86th time. The course takes you from forest terrain at the start in Tingstadjordet (Rena), over the three beautiful mountain areas that define the race, before leading you down to the finish at the Birkebeineren Ski Stadium in Lillehammer.

Experience the Birkebeiner heritage, the atmosphere on the trail, and the joy of completing one of Norway’s most iconic ski races. Anyone who turns 16 by 31 December 2026 can participate. The Birkebeinerrennet is part of the Birkebeiner Tripl  Birkebeinertrippelen.
