A race for everyone, in the heart of Lillehammer!

Birken Street Run is an exciting new event in the heart of Lillehammer, open to everyone! This is more than just a race – it’s a celebration for those who want to challenge themselves, experience a strong sense of community, and enjoy the unique atmosphere of the city streets. With distances for recreational runners, experienced athletes, and children, Birken Street Run is the perfect opportunity to set a training goal and achieve something great together. Choose between 10 km, 5 km, or the 300/400 m kids' race – and be part of this new tradition in beautiful Lillehammer Saturday September 26th 2026.

Both the 5K and 10K start at Sigrid Undsets plass, right in the heart of Lillehammer. The 10K route heads north through Storgata before continuing through residential areas north of the city centre, with a mix of asphalt and hard-packed gravel along the way. The route then passes Lillehammer Church and the sports ground, continues through the southern part of town, and returns via Storgata to the finish just south of Mesna Bru.

The 5K route follows the same course to Mesna Bru, then runs along the Mesna River towards Uldvarefabrikken before rejoining the main route towards the finish.

Race rules
All competitors need a license.

You may not start using another person's entry/bib or in an earlier wave than assigned.

For your safety it is not allowd to use any form of audio during the race.

Timekeeping / Bib
BIB must be visible at all times during the race. For your own safety, it is not permitted to use another participant's BIB.
Identification must be provided at random checks.
Your bib is also your timer. A chip on the back of the bib records the start time, intermediate time and time at the finish line.

Environment
Littering along the route is not allowed. Please bring your own litter to the nearest food station or use the drop zones along the course. Littering along the course can be penalized with 15 minutes added to your time.

Jury
Race leader, timing manager and medical manager.
Please read the registration conditions

Complaints
Against race conditions: 30 minutes after crossing the finish line.
Towards the results list: 30 minutes after the list and results are published.
The complaint must be submitted in writing to info@birken.no with a fee of NOK 100.
Complaints will be heard by the jury.
License

All participants, including foreigners, must have a valid license to enter Norwegian running events.

All participants age 13-79 must have a valid license to start in running events in Norway. If you have a valid license through your team, bring your license card when you retrieve your BIB.

Purchase
The license is not included in the entry fee. It can be purchased when signing up, through your My Page, or at the race office when retrieving your BIB.

You can leave your luggage at a designated area at Sigrid Undsets plass, right by the start area. Storage is outdoors and at your own risk – Birken is not responsible for theft or damage. Please do not leave valuables, and if rain is expected, we recommend placing your luggage inside a plastic bag for extra protection.
Prizes

All participants
Everyone who completes the Birken Gateløp will receive a medal at the finish line.

For the Birken Road Race 5 km and 10 km
Your time diploma, showing both split times and finish time, can be downloaded from (My Page) on the Tuesday after the race.

Awards and ceremony
The top three men and women overall in each distance (5 km and 10 km) will be awarded. The award ceremony will take place at Lilletorget.
