UltraBirken is back with more trails than in years

A great deal of work has gone into finding the best possible course we can offer in our area. In close dialogue with mountain boards and landowners, we have worked to create a route with as much trail riding as possible, within the areas we have permission to use. The result is a classic and demanding UltraBirken course – with long, beautiful trail sections in the mountains, technical challenges and stunning nature from start to finish.
One of the reasons UltraBirken can now further refine its identity as a true MTB race is the introduction of GravelBirken, which offers a longer challenge on gravel roads. This allows UltraBirken to once again focus on what it is known for: real mountain biking in varied and spectacular mountain terrain.
This year’s course takes you across many of the well-known and much-loved UltraBirken mountains – Hitfjell, Reinsfjell, Kriksfjell and more. The first part of the course includes a lot of technical terrain, where both skills and concentration will be put to the test.
As the race progresses, the course gradually becomes less technical and includes several kilometres of gravel road. But don’t relax completely – towards the end, a technical trail section awaits, where it pays to stay focused. If you have saved some energy and keep a cool head, you will get a much better finish to the race.
– I believe this will be a fantastic course for everyone who loves riding trails in the mountains. Welcome to a true UltraBirken experience, says course planner Bjørn Ballangrud.
The race starts at Pellestova and finishes at Håkons Hall in Lillehammer. All participants must carry a backpack with mandatory content, and UltraBirken MTB is one of the race options included in the Birkebeiner Triple.
